Located 822 metres above sea level, most of the territory is covered with pine forests, maples, oaks and old olive trees, the remainder being adapted to agriculture. Here one feels calm, breathes clean air and is filled with a sense of peace and wellbeing.
Hotel La Vella Farga is located in el Solsonés, a county of the Catalan Pre-Pyrenees, where fields are interspersed with large tracts of forest and high mountains which together provide a magnificent contrast of landscapes.
Dubbed the "county of a thousand farms" most of the territory consists of these scattered buildings, some of which are beautiful examples of the constructions characteristic of rural Catalonia from the fifteenth to eighteenth centuries.
This is part of a landscape where man has found the balance between himself and the land he works.
El Solsonés offers the chance to practice all kinds of sport (hiking, mountain biking, horse riding, golf ...) as well as the opportunity to discover some Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque jewels, such as the old town of Solsona, the eleventh century Romanesque church of Saint Julian of Ceuró, the Baroque sanctuaries of Miracle and the eleventh century Castle of Cardona.
